June 29, 2018 was Mac Slover’s official retirement date after 30 wonderful, exciting, challenging, and rewarding years with the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities!
Mac enjoyed working with so many awesome staff and having the chance to be a part of so many children and their families’ lives. Mac is thankful for the opportunities to work for the City of Alexandria and was blessed with a very nice retirement ceremony celebration by our department with close family, friends and co-workers. As he leaves, it will be with a lot of happiness and sadness as he was able to be around some great citizens, staff, volunteers and partners whether at Charles Houston, Charles Barrett, Cora Kelly Centers, Sports Section, Youth Activities-Outreach-Senior Section and finally at Patrick Henry Center. What a wonderful ride he had. Mac is thankful for the love of Diane and his family (children – Johnathan, Justin, Lindsey, Daughter In Law – Kylie & Grandchildren – Tanner & Camey).
He will be back in the fall of 2018 to voluntarily run the Miracle League with its great children and adults in the fall.
Below are the links to three articles in the local papers about his career.
