Lee Center Sensory Room

Over the past four months, the Miracle League of Alexandria has been collaborating with the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities – Recreation Services Division and Therapeutic Recreation staff to help furnish new equipment and calming items to use in their sensory room.

Significant improvements have been made to the Sensory Room over the past several months. The MLA has offered up to $1,500 to pay for improvements with a corresponding $1,500 furnished by the City of the most pressing items needed to be replaced.

Check out the amazing pictures of the transformation.

George Mason Elementary School Sensory Room

Over the past few months, the Miracle League of Alexandria has been collaborating with the George Mason Elementary School Principal, Christopher Finan and Andrea Heckel, Lead Coach to assist them in opening their new sensory room in September 2024. The MLA donated a $3,500 lighted tunnel for the sensory room at George Mason Elementary School.

The school held a ribbon cutting on September 27. Mac Slover, MLA and Allison McMahon of the MLA/ACPS Office of Inclusion attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Ultimately, the MLA’s goal is to establish sensory room for every school and Rec Center in the city should so they can be used for calming measures.
