Team UP – What It Does and Why It Is Important
♦ Creating interest in and cultivating the love for baseball and softball requires:
◊ Identifying areas of need and working to close gaps.
◊ Dedication to providing resources, programs, and experiences that support and improve the quality of the youth baseball experience.
◊ Highly focused, passionately driven leadership that takes the benefits of the game directly to kids in the DMV.
♦ Baseball and softball provide opportunities for kids to be active, have fun and learn valuable lessons like teamwork, dedication, determination, and being active that translate to life beyond the diamond.
♦ The Nationals Team UP program helps break down and minimize obstacles preventing kids from playing baseball and softball.
♦ Baseball has the unique capacity to unite and the Nationals Team UP program builds shared excitement across the city and connects kids to their hometown team.
♦ The Nationals Team UP program reaches young people in their neighborhoods and on their fields throughout the region.

Benefits of Partnership
♦ The Nationals provide, at no cost to the leagues, a Nationals athletic quality top and cap for each player for both the spring and fall seasons.

◊ AAA/Minors (entry -level kid pitch) – two-button, pullover jerseys and caps.
◊ Majors, Intermediate, Juniors (kid pitch) – full-button jerseys and caps.
Miracle League: kids with differing abilities – jerseys and caps.
♦ The Nationals supply a corresponding Nationals cap, embroidered with the word “COACH,” for three coaches on every team.
♦ Teams are differentiated using a variety of styles and colors of T-shirts, jerseys and caps (see style guide).
♦ Additional program benefits include:
◊ Team UP Festival – Special ticket event where we reserved a quarter of the ballpark for fun and family friendly games and will receive two free tickets available to every youth player and coach in a participating Team UP league. “Price of admission” is wearing the uniform to the game.

Meet Robert Ludke

Over my career I have advised policymakers in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, taught at the United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya, and provided counsel on sustainability, corporate governance, supply chain management, and environment, social, and governance (ESG) strategies for companies in the retail, oil and gas, transportation, and finance sectors.

I also have experience navigating clients through high profile crisis situations and mergers and acquisitions.  I am the proud author of Transformative Markets, a book about the role of markets in fostering a more sustainable society (published in April 2020 through the Creator Institute of Georgetown University), and the creator of the Voices of Nature podcast in partnership with Global Conservation Corps.

In addition to my work at Ludke Consulting, I am a Senior Fellow at The Harkin Institute for Public Policy & Citizen Engagement. My work at The Harkin Institute focuses on research and engagement with the disability community, investors, and the private sector to facilitate ESG investment practices being used as a catalyst for achieving competitive, integrated employment of persons with disabilities.

I recently published Competitive, Integrated Employment: A Driver of Long-Term Value Creation. Released in conjunction with The 2022 Harkin International Disability Employment Summit this paper demonstrates that companies making a commitment to competitive, integrated employment for persons with disabilities enjoy a competitive advantage and are positioned to capitalize on a $13 trillion global disability market.

I also am a regular writer of timely and insightful content appearing in publications such as The Sustainable Mag and Skytop Strategies.
